Scottish Christian Party
The Scottish Christian Party - www.christianparty.org.uk - is the renaming of a party which fought in the last UK General Election.
Already the generalisations and putting downs can be heard from the media - "single issue party" - "fundamentalist" - I'm sure there will be a lot more to come.
Indeed, Rev George Hargreaves of the Christian Party has already accused Radio Scotland of political bias after editing an explanatory section to one of his comments. When asked for his take on Green issues and why Christian should not just vote Green, Rev Hargreaves indicated that the Green manifesto may not tick important boxes for some Christians. In the original interview he went on to explain what some of these boxes might be - the Green Party were in favour of legalising prostitution and drugs, as well as relaxing pornography laws - this section, which delivered important information to the listener, was cut by the BBC. Friends, before you listen too much to the ignorant and biased media, do your own homework - and consider the benefits that Christianity has brought to our nation:-
World class schooling for all - put in place first by the church
Freedom of speech and of religion - fought for, often at severe cost, by our Covenanter forefathers
Laws which are representative and fair to the majority because they were based on the teachings of the Bible.
Would a Christian Party be unfair to those who are religious?
Consider that the basis of Christian standards and morality - i.e. the thinking which shaped the Scotland we live in today and the freedoms we enjoy today - are broadly in common with the Jewish and Islamic faiths and with many from other or no faiths. It can be seen that Christian standards have worked well for all who live and work in Scotland. Compare that with the current political thinking which is creating new "modern" legislation, devoid of standards and ignorant of God's laws - and a society which is going to the dogs.
It is important for the future of Scotland that we stand up for the standards which made this a great country - a country which influenced the world. These standards were based Christian standards - based on God's laws. God's laws provide what is correct and best for mankind.
The message to our political parties is - shape up, or be prepared to be shipped out. The people of Scotland have an alternative voice.

Well, it's good to know that when the BNP isn't able to field a candidate in Scotland there will be a party that'll stick up for what makes this country great.
Good on you guys, let's not let people forget that this is a Christian country!
Christ, the last thing I would want is a bunch of bible bashers in Parliament.
The country needs to place Christ at the centre of individual, family and community life.It is time for real christian values to be promoted in Parliament.
It is of interest that 'Anonymous' (6:28pm) chose to open his comment in a way which is most offensive to Christians, thereby displaying his utter lack of sensitivity, originality, wit or intelligence. No wonder he wants to remain anonymous.
